U.S. BANK MORTGAGE TAX DOCUMENTS

The IRS requires your financial institution to send a 1098 tax form only if you paid $600 or more in private mortgage insurance (PMI), interest or points paid at closing in the previous year. If you paid less than $600, you won’t receive a form.

When a tax document is available online, you’ll receive a notification in your online account. If you’ve turned on alerts, you’ll also receive an email to the address(es) we have on file.

Online tax documents will be available online by the last week of January. If you’ve chosen paperless documents, you won’t receive a paper copy in the mail.

Mailed tax documents will be sent by January 31. You can also view and download them through your online banking account, which can be accessed by following the instructions below.

Online banking steps

1. Under My accounts in the main navigation menu, select My documents and then choose Tax documents.
2. Choose the account and year of the document you’d like to view.

U.S. Bank Mobile App steps

1. In the main menu, select Statements & docs then choose Tax documents.
   Choose the account you’d like to view.
2. Your current tax documents will appear, you can choose another document year to see previous documents.

If you switch to paperless delivery, you will not receive paper documents.

Online banking steps

1. Under Profile & settings, select Paperless preferences.
2. Mark the checkbox next to a specific account; or mark the checkbox to go paperless for all eligible accounts.
3. Review the information and notification preferences, then select Save.

U.S. Bank Mobile App steps

Select Statements & docs from the main menu then choose Paperless preferences. You can go paperless for all accounts and all document types, or you can select specific document types (such as tax documents) and specific accounts for e-delivery.

For U.S. Bank joint accounts, only the account holder whose Social Security number (SSN) is the primary SSN associated with the account can sign up for online tax documents.

For your mortgage account, you may receive:

• 1098 Mortgage interest statement
• 1099 INT: Interest income earned
• 1099 A
• 1099 C

Your tax documents will be available online for up to two years. You can order a paper copy for documents older than two years.

Yes. A borrower and co-borrower can both view mortgage tax documents online.

Online banking steps

To update your email, go to Profile & settings in the main menu, choose Edit personal details and then edit or add another email. Go back under Profile & settings in the main menu, choose Edit alerts & notifications and make sure your mortgage account is selected. Under the Tax document is available notification, ensure the correct email is selected.

U.S. Bank Mobile App steps

Open the main menu (three horizontal bars) and choose the gear icon (found in the top right of the open window). Select Personal details, then edit or add another email. Go back under the gear icon, choose Alerts & notifications and then Account activity. Make sure your mortgage account is selected. Under the Tax document is available notification, ensure the correct email is selected.
