What types of card controls are available using Spend Management?
Spend Management offers security and flexibility to allow a business the ability to place card controls of their choice on their cards. A business owner and admin(s) can set, view, and manage card limits and restrictions for each user’s card(s). For those on the Pro Plus Spend Management plan, department leads with full permissions can also set, view, and manage card limits only for those in their department.
The following is a list of available card controls within Spend Management and a description:
Credit Limit: Set the maximum amount of credit available for the employee card. Once the limit is reached, the card will be declined.
- The minimum amount of credit is $500, and the maximum is the business credit limit.
- The credit limit must be entered in increments of $100.
- The credit limit will reset based on the billing cycle.
- The credit limit is a required field and must be configured.
Spend Limit: Control how much a card user can spend daily, weekly, monthly, or configure a custom “Available until” date. You can also select no set spend limit, which allows the card to make purchases up to the account's available credit limit.
Days of the week: Choose the days of the week that the card can or cannot be used.
Merchant categories: Control spending by selecting merchant categories at which the card can be used e.g. Food & drink, Fuel, Travel & hotels, Retail goods, and more. If there are no restrictions, select “Enable purchases for all merchant categories.”
Restricted spend categories: Choose one or both options to restrict the card from being used for e-commerce (online purchases), phone and mail order transactions and/or spending outside the U.S.
Card On/off: Toggle the card on to authorize purchases on the card.
Card lock: Enable card lock to temporarily prevent new purchases, but pending or reoccurring transactions will still be processed.
