U.S. Bank Smartly® Checking

A U.S. Bank checking account that allows you to deposit money (such as a paycheck) and draw on that money for everyday purchases. The account offers the ability to draw on funds using a debit card or checks and online or mobile banking.

An opening deposit of at least $25 must be made within 30 days of receiving your welcome kit.

Standard Savings

A U.S. Bank savings account allows you to hold money long-term and earn interest. In using this account, it helps to separate long term savings from everyday transactions. There is no check writing feature associated with this account. Funds can be accessed via an ATM using a debit or ATM card. Savings accounts are also accessible in mobile and online banking.

An opening deposit of at least $25 must be made within 30 days of receiving your welcome kit.

Elite money Market

A U.S. Bank account that allows you to hold money long-term and earn interest, often at higher rates than the Standard Savings account. This account gives you the ability to draw on funds using a debit card or checks.

An opening deposit of at least $100 must be made within 30 days of receiving your welcome kit.

Certificates of deposit (CDs)

A U.S. Bank certificate of deposit offers a higher interest rate than a traditional savings account, but you must leave your money untouched for an agreed upon time (also known as the CD Term Length). If funds are withdrawn from the account earlier than the term length, a fee will be charged. There is no debit card or check writing feature associated with this account.

Opening deposit amounts for the standard CD vary.

NOTE: This account is only available to Global Transition Solutions customers if they have an existing Bank Smartly Checking, Standard Savings or Elite Money Market account established first.

How to apply

Take the first step and start the referral process. Send a completed referral form to MUFG Bank along with copies of documents that verify your identity.

Get started in three simple steps

Step 1

Download and fill out a referral form at MUFG Bank website. Return the completed form to MUFG along with the requested identification documents.

Step 2

Once MUFG receives your completed referral form and identification documents, you’ll receive an email from U.S. Bank with a link inviting you to apply for a deposit account.

Step 3

Submit your application to U.S. Bank for review.

After you apply

Once your application is submitted, U.S. Bank will review your application and verify your identity. It is possible this step may include a video interview. If your application is approved, you will receive an approval email from U.S. Bank containing a digital Welcome Package.

The Welcome Package contains important information regarding your account, such as an account number. It will also contain instructions on completing your account setup, such as signing and returning your Signature Card and funding your account within 30 days of receiving your Welcome Kit.

Confirm you're moving to the U.S.

You’ll need a U.S. visa (excluding embassy and government applicants), or one of the following documents that shows you’ve applied for one.

  • Your DS-160 confirmation page
  • An email confirming your application for a DS-260 online immigrant visa and alien registration
  • An appointment with the U.S. embassy
  • Complete the Visa section of the application.
