SPEAKER: Small parcel shipping scams can cost you big money. A large provider of industrial products suspected that they were being scammed with fraudulent packages shipped on their parcel accounts. Our client with millions of packages a year struggled to uncover the source of the fraud.

They turned to the U.S. Bank small parcel solutions team to assist with identifying and mitigating the fraud, then implementing controls to shut down the scammers and get back to business. By meticulously scrutinizing the data, uncovering hidden patterns and trends, we identified the potential fraud and isolated the issues.

Our team identified shipments where scammers were creating multiple smaller packages, spreading out the fraudulent activity and making it harder for the carriers to detect. We engaged with our client's parcel carriers to bring the issues to their attention and file claims for the fraudulent shipments. While working with the carriers to shut down the fraud, they asked us to expand our investigation and search for similar problems for other clients. We did, and we identified fraud at more than 90 of them.
