U.S. Bank has assumed all of the deposits and purchased most of the assets of BankEast.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR FORMER CUSTOMERS OF BankEast:

  • Your accounts are safe!  Your accounts are now U.S. Bank accounts.  All your deposit accounts are covered under the FDIC Insurance program and now the prudent management of U.S. Bank.
  • You have access to all of your accounts, through your normal channels – branches, ATMs and online. The accounts are now simply part of U.S. Bank.
  • Your branch office is open and you should continue to bank at the same branch you always have.  Currently all branch offices will be open their normal hours and staffed by the same bankers you know and trust.  Information will be forthcoming as soon as it is available regarding when you can access your accounts at U.S. Bank branch offices, usbank.com and U.S. Bank ATMs as well.  Please know that this can not occur until the systems of the two banks are combined which is currently expected to occur in the summer of 2012.
  • You should continue to use your current checks, debit and ATM cards and other documents to access your deposit accounts.  If we choose to, or need to, replace any of these account access vehicles, you will be notified well in advance.
  • The interest rate on your Certificates of Deposit (CD) will remain the same. As your CD matures, you will receive a letter, just as you always have.  U.S. Bank offers a broad range of CD, savings and investment options.
  • Direct deposit and automatic payments will continue as scheduled and account numbers remain the same currently.
  • Loan, credit card and other credit accounts will remain the same.  Payments should continue to be made as always.
  • All accounts continue to be insured under the FDIC Insurance program.  If you have existing accounts at BankEast and U.S. Bank, and the combined totals are in excess of the FDIC limits, you will have up to six months to re-title those accounts so that they are protected under FDIC insurance.
  • Each depositor is FDIC insured to at least $250,000. FDIC Deposit Insurance is $250,000 per depositor.  Certain accounts will have coverage above $250,000.  Details can be found at usbank.com and FDIC.gov.
  • You can still access your accounts at BankEast’s website and through the current customer service line.

  • Your depository accounts will remain the same for now. You should continue to bank just as you always have -- at the same branch office or online at the same website you use today. Continue to use the same checks, ATM or debit card or other documents for your deposit accounts. You will be kept: well-informed of any changes or enhancements to your accounts. Over the coming months we’ll begin to share information on additional products and services that will be available after the transition of your deposit accounts into U.S. Bank is complete. Until then, simply continue to bank as you always have.
  • Your CDs are safe and FDIC insured. The rate remains the same and you will be notified prior to the date your CD matures. If you wish to close your CD, you may do so. Per the terms of the FDIC agreement, you may do so without penalty. However, there is no need to close your CD. The rate remains the same and U.S. Bank is among the nation’s safest and strongest banks.
  • Your loan and other credit accounts will remain the same, subject to the terms of your loan agreement. You should continue to make payments just as you always have.
  • Absolutely. Please continue to use your current bank credit cards. Your access remains the same, subject to the terms of your credit card agreement.
  • Absolutely! Your checking and money market checks will continue to be processed just as they always have. You may still use your ATM/ debit card to access cash at ATMs and at retailers. Complete, detailed information will be provided in the coming months on any changes to accessing your accounts.
  • You’ll find today all the BankEast branch offices are open the same hours and are staffed by the same bankers you’ve come to know and trust. As we work to transition to U.S. Bank, you’ll also be able to bank at any of the more than 3,000 U.S. Bank branch offices throughout the country. Until we are able to connect the U.S. Bank and all the individual bank systems, please continue to bank at your current branch office or online as you always have.

Everybody’s situation is a little different, so it is important to log onto fdic.gov to get a complete understanding of your FDIC coverage.
  • Yes. if your deposit account was opened at BankEast prior to 1/27/12, then that account will be insured separately by the FDIC for six months, up to the maximum FDIC insurance limits, including any new deposits into your U.S. Bank deposit account. Accounts opened on or after 1/27/12 are combined with all of your other U.S. Bank accounts to determine FDIC insurance coverage.
  • U.S. Bank is assuming ALL of the deposits of BankEast insured and uninsured. U.S. Bank is a member of the FDIC. Each depositor is FDIC insured to at least $250,000. Everybody’s situation is a little different so it is important to log onto fdic.gov to get a complete understanding of your FDIC coverage. Your deposits are also backed by the strength of U.S. Bank.
  • Direct deposits and automatic payments will continue, uninterrupted.
  • You can, and should, continue to bank as you always have. The BankEast website, Internet Banking and Bill Pay will continue to be available for your use. There may be a brief interruption in access on line as the FDIC transfers the deposit accounts to U.S. Bank.
  • Just as with the consumer accounts described above, you should continue to access your deposit accounts using the same checks and other documents. The structure of your accounts remains the same.
