Q: How safe is my financial information when I bank online?
A: Security and privacy are built into U.S. Bank Online. For instance, access to any of the online services requires at least a four-digit Personal Identification Number (PIN) or Password that only you know. Here are a few simple things you can do to maximize the security and confidentiality of your online banking relationship:

  • Choose a PIN or password that's easy for you to remember, but not obvious to someone else. For instance, don't use part of your Social Security number, phone number or birth date.
  • Change your PIN or Password often. It's easy to do, because it appears on the same screen you use to access U.S. Bank.
  • Microsoft Money and Quicken software allow you to "lock" your financial file with a password. That creates a second layer of protection for all of your financial records.
