Q: What is Internet Banking?
A: Internet Banking is a free service that allows customers to access account information and complete various financial transactions. You can Iogin to Internet Banking 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, from any computer with Internet capabilities.

Q: How do I enroll for Internet Banking?
A: To enroll for internet Banking you need to complete a one time enrollment process. You will need a U.S. Bank card or account number and PIN (Personal Identification Number) along with your Social Security Number.

If you do not have PIN and are enrolling in Internet Banking to view your personal accounts you can use a PIN generated over the phone by calling 800-872-2657 and following these simple steps:
  • Choose 1 for "English" or 2 for "Spanish"
  • Choose 1 for "Information on an Existing Account"
  • Choose 1 for "Account Inquiries"
  • Enter your U.S. Bank Checking or Savings account number
  • When prompted for a PIN, you will be asked to press the # key if you do not have a PIN; after you enter your Social Security Number, a PIN will be generated for you
If you do not have a PIN and are enrolling in Internet Banking to view your business accounts you will need a Check Card PIN. You can apply for a check card at the branch and start banking online as soon as you receive your ATM or Check card PIN.

Next, you will need to select a unique Personal ID and password. Instructions to do this are provided on the enrollment pages. Once these steps are completed, you can begin using Internet Banking immediately.

Q: How do I change my password?
A: You can change your password anytime within the "Your Profile" section of Internet Banking. The "Your Profile" link is located at the top of every Internet Banking page.

Q: What if I forget my Personal ID or password?
A: Select the "Forgot Personal ID or password?" link found in LoginTo Your Accounts section on the right of the usbank.com home page.

Q: What can I do in Internet Banking?
A: When you login to Internet Banking you can view information or complete various transactions, including:
  • View account balance, check images and transaction information.
  • Pay bills online to anyone, anywhere in the United States.
  • Move funds easily between your U.S. Bank accounts.
  • Enjoy the convenience of FREE Online Statements
  • Receive Account and Security alerts by email or mobile phone.

Q: How current is my account information?
A: Internet Banking offers you the most current balance and transaction information available. Most account information will show immediately as transactions are processed throughout the day.

Q: How do I set up account alerts?
A: All U.S. Bank Internet Banking customers can set up Account Alerts for their checking, savings, line of credit, or credit cards.

To set up Account Alerts login to Internet Banking, choose the Alerts link on the left side of the page, and select the Account Alerts that will best help you manage your accounts. Not an Internet Banking customer yet? Enroll Now.

These alerts will notify customers, via email or text message, of important account activity, such as:
  • Low or negative checking account balances
  • Deposits or withdrawals
  • Online statement availability
  • Payments are posted or due

Q: Can I transfer money to other financial institutions?
A: No. Transfers can only be performed between U.S. Bank accounts. However, by utilizing U.S. Bank Internet Bill Pay you can make payments to anyone, anywhere in the United States from your U.S. Bank Checking Account. Not enrolled in Bill Pay yet? Enroll today.

Q: What is Internet Bill Pay?
A: U.S. Bank Internet Bill Pay is a free service which allows you to make payments to anyone, anywhere in the United States from your U.S. Bank Checking Account. Using Internet Bill Pay not only saves you time, by not having to write those checks and making trips to the mailbox it also saves you money in the cost of stamps and the money you could save in late fees.

A: Login to Internet Banking, select the Bill Pay link on the left. You'll first need to enter information about the Billers you want to pay. Q: Can I set up reminders with Internet Bill Pay?
A: Yes. U.S. Bank offers a variety of email reminders, called Account Alerts, for any of the billers you have created within Bill Pay.

An email alert can be sent when:
  • Payment is due
  • Payment is pending
  • Payment has been sent
  • Reminder before the last automatic payment is sent
  • Ebill is received (ebill subscription required)
  • Payment not sent by the due date (ebill subscription required)

Q: How do I set up reminders with Internet Bill Pay?
A: To set up Biller specific alerts in Bill Pay, login to Internet Banking, choose the Bill Pay link on the left side of the page, and select the "Manage Your Bills" link. Once there select the desired biller from the drop down menu and select "Set up reminders for this Bill" to begin creating an alert.

Q: How can I ensure a payment will be processed correctly?
A: Make sure to update any changes to a billers account number or address in the "Manage Your Bills" section of Internet Bill Pay.

Q: How do I know if the payment is paper or electronic?
A: If your first available payment date is:
  • Two days or less - the payment will be sent electronically
  • Four days - the payment will be sent via paper

Q: Do I need to notify the billers that I will be using you Bill Pay service?
A: No. Once payments are setup the biller will receive a payment just like they would from you. As a follow-up ensure that the correct account number and a current address are used.

Q: Is there a limit on the number of bills I can pay with Internet Bill Pay?
A: No. There is no limit to the number of bills that can be paid with Internet Bill Pay.

Q: How are the scheduled payments processed with Bill Pay?
A: Payments are sent one of 2 ways for all the billers.
  • Most scheduled payments are sent electronically and funds are withdrawn from the customer's accounts on the payment date.
  • A fraction of payments are sent as paper checks. Funds for these checks are withdrawn from the customer's accounts based on when the biller processes the payment.

Q: How long does it take to send a payment?
A: We recommend scheduling payments 4 days before the due date to allow enough time for the biller to process and post the payment to your account.

Q: Does U. S. Bank offer a Bill Pay guarantee?
A: Yes. Payments are guaranteed to be accurate and delivered by the Payment Date you select as long as your accounts are sufficiently funded, all payment information is entered correctly and the payment is scheduled to arrive by its due date.

Q: What are ebills?
A: Ebills are electronic versions of your paper bills. It is free service to all our Internet Bill Pay customers. With ebills you can view details online, access past statements and make online payments. And, so you never miss a payment, you can even choose to receive an email reminder when your bill arrives.

EBills are only available from select companies. Look for payees that offer electronic billing when adding your payees in Internet Bill Pay. Start receiving your bills electronically today from your cellular provider, utility company or your credit card company. View a list of available ebillers.

Q: How can I start receiving ebills?
A: Getting setup to receive ebills is easy. To get started, select the "Try Ebill" icon next to the biller name in the payment center (this icon is only displayed next to biller names where ebills are offered). Enter the required information — that's it! Your ebill will be delivered securely to your bill pay account within your next billing cycle.

Q: What if I have a question about a bill payment?
A: If you have a question about a payment you made or you believe an error has occurred login to Internet Banking, select the Bill History link on the left, find the payment in question and select the View Detail link. Or, call our 24-Hour Banking number at 800-US BANKS (872-2657), seven days a week.

Q: Is U.S. Bank Internet Banking secure?
A: Yes. We use advanced encryption technology to ensure your information stays safe and secure. And only you have access to your accounts with your Personal ID and password. We strongly suggest you do not share your Personal ID, password, PIN or account number with anyone. And please know that U.S. Bank will never request this type of information via email.

Q: What are Security Alerts?
A: Security Alerts are emails automatically sent to your primary email address when certain events occur, such as changes to your mailing address or Personal ID. They do not reference a specific customer's name or account number. Being alerted promptly about these types of changes can help you detect and stop potential fraud.

A: To automatically receive Security Alerts when certain events occur, such as changes to your mailing address or Personal ID, Please do one of the following:
  • provide or update your primary email address within Internet Banking by selecting the "Your Profile" link
  • call 1-800-USBANKS
  • visit a U.S. Bank branch

Q: What is the easiest way to identify an email that I have received as a possible phishing email?
A: Phishing emails will tell you that you must use a link provided to verify or change your account in some way. U.S. Bank will never send an email asking you to do this, or for personal or account information.

Q: How can I increase my own security when Banking online?
A: Some ways to increase your security are:
  • Make your password alpha-numeric, change it periodically and keep it confidential.
  • Install anti-virus and firewall software on your computer.
  • Never share any personal information, especially social security numbers, account numbers, or login and password information via email.
